Seeing reports of local fires here, here, and here just in the last few weeks has reminded me that–even apart from the massive wildfires– smaller fires can still be devastating. If it’s been awhile since you’ve reviewed your insurance, I’d encourage you to find out what you’re paying for with your home insurance.
You may find out you’re paying for more than you need or for options you don’t want. For instance, I recently reviewed someone’s homeowners policy and she was paying for $50,000 worth of structures that did not exist.
Or you may discover that you need a bump in coverage. As a crazier example, one homeowners policy I recently reviewed provided only $27k of coverage for structures actually worth about $400k. Only off by roughly $370k!
Please take the time to know what you have and what you’re paying for. Happy to help.
